MARTIAL ART
CLASSES **
Martial art classes in Kobayashi Shorin ryu Karatedo are
directed by a master ranked instructor at Newman Center.
All classes are conducted in a formal, proper manner
providing quality training in a major martial art style at a
realistic and more affordable price than commercially
offered. Classes are open to children ages 6 & older, and
to teens & adults. Classes are co-ed. Uniforms for martial
art classes are not required unless testing for rank or
participating in formal events. Uniforms, weaponry, and
supplies may be purchased through the instructor at
reasonable prices. A New Student Introductory Packet is
provided free to new students which provides general
information on membership requirements, rank testing
requirements and fees, what to expect from class, martial
art etiquette, terminology for class, explanation of the
school name, style background, available supplies and
prices, equipment that is required, maps of our other school
locations, how to tie the martial art uniform belt, martial
art emblems and more. Additional school publications are
also available for greater learning and study.
These classes concentrate on martial art techniques and
forms as well as proper etiquette and karate knowledge.
Students learn proper punching, kicking, grappling
techniques, sweeps, throws, and more. Students can test for
rank promotions. (Students may attend twice per week by
registering for two different classes.) Students will work
basic and advanced forms and techniques.

Martial Art Weapons Class Ages 6-adult **
Learn to use the Bo (6 foot wooden staff). Learn striking,
blocking, and weapon form. Participants without their own
weapon may rent or purchase weapon from class instructor.
Class directed by Martial Art Weapon Master Ranked
Instructor. Min 5/Max 8
MUST BE ENROLLED IN MARTIAL ARTS CLASS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
WEAPONS CLASS.
